Your life is busy. You aren’t a morning person. You have to drive kids to activities in the evening and have a stressful day job. Sound familiar?
If this sounds like you and your daily struggle with trying to “fit” fitness in, then read on.
First of all nothing changes without action. We can have the loftiest goals and greatest of intentions but without action nothing ever gets achieved. So what it boils down to is you need to take action during your identified windows of time throughout your day.
1. Take a look at your day. Do you often take a coffee break and stroll to your local Timmy’s or Starbucks? Do you go out for lunch or eat at your desk? Find snippets of time that you can take action in and commit to it with zero excuses.
2. Schedule it in. Say you identify 3- 15 minute slots throughout your day that you can commit to moving your body. Are you able to combine them? If so, find a local gym close to your workplace and sign up for a 30 or 45 minute class where you just need to show up and not have to think. If you can’t find a window of a full 45 minutes then you need to spend each of those 15 minute windows using full body movements such as brisk walking, jogging, lunging or squatting.
3. Perform micro movements all day long. Ignite your metabolism by standing at your desk instead of sitting, stand while talking on the phone, walk to your co-workers desk instead of sending an interoffice email, practice sitting tall, engaging your spine, contracting your butt muscles. Every movement counts.
4. Get out of your car and walk. Make a habit every day when you arrive home from work to put your sneakers on and head immediately from the car for a loop around the neighborhood. Start with just 15 minutes and add 5 more on each week. You will enjoy nature, fresh air and great scenery after a long day in the office.
5. Do mini workouts Plank or squat during commercials of your favorite TV show. Get out of bed and commit to doing 10 pushups. So many ways you can fit fitness in!
Take ACTION and watch your life change!

Kathryn
