Kefir is an ancient antidote that has all kinds of nutritional benefits. High in protein, kefir also provides vitamin B, phosphorous, vitamin D , calcium and magnesium
It is also said that the probiotics in kefir are 400X that what you get from regular yogurts. Kefir has more than 30 different types of micro organisms making it a potent source.
Now that is great news for anyone who wants to have a clean intestinal tract, healthy immune system and anti-aging properties all in one shot! Who wouldn’t want that?
My good friend Shawna recently came back from a vacation to Palm Springs and was given some kefir grains from a microbiologist she met down there. She told me that this woman’s husband was thirty years older than her and he looked amazing! She told Shawna that it was her goal in life to keep her husband as young and healthy as possible so she could enjoy as many years as she could with him.
Shawna was kind enough to bring me over some grains so I could start my own kefir batch. She walked me through the steps from keeping the jar away from sunlight, to letting it ferment for at least 8 hours in room temperature, to not allowing the grains to be in contact with metal (hence you need to get a plastic mini size strainer-try Amazon), and to use organic milk as the preservatives in regular milk will kill the grains. It is really only a 5-10 minute a day commitment to make your own kefir!
Kefir can be mixed into your morning smoothie, cereal or just drink it straight up! The taste is somewhat sour and fizzy!
To Your Health!
