Wow. So here I am in my 40’s. I honestly think back over my life and really wonder how the heck I got here.
I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs in my life so far and I’m determined to make the second half of my life extraordinary!
After all we all have a choice. Each and every day from the moment you step out of bed you have a choice on how you are going face the world.
One thing I know for sure is I have wasted a lot of precious time over the years worrying about things that never come to fruition and I haven’t done a very good job of living in the moment.
Since separating from my husband in 2006 and raising two very young children (2 and 4) as a single mom over the past 9 years I have had to make some choices.
- I chose to be the best mom I could regardless of my circumstances
- I chose to focus on my career to ensure I could afford to make a go of things on my own financially
- I chose to use fitness to channel my anxiety and increase my confidence
- I chose to reflect on why I chose my spouse and what kind of person I wanted to spend my life with going forward
- I chose to be positive and surround myself with positive people…after all, it’s the top 5 closest people in your life that make the most impact on you J
These choices have brought so much good into my life since the pain of having to go through a divorce and not having the luxury to be with my children every day anymore. It’s allowed me to cope, to become a strong, confident, fit woman with a career I’m passionate about, and to meet the love of my life 4 years ago.
Don’t get me wrong, my life isn’t perfect.
I still struggle with a difficult ex-spouse, I still feel anxious at times, and I have to work to change my thoughts at times to go from negative to positive. After all, I’m human. And so are you.
One thing I’ve learned is to be gentle with myself.
We are all a work in progress….join me on my way to becoming Fit, Fabulous and Free!
Kathryn
