1. HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT US AND WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO TRY OUT OUR STUDIO?
I did Kathryn’s detox challenge from her website four years ago, so was familiar with her work. Then two years ago, I was looking for training beyond what was available to me at the gym I was using, and a friend offered to let me use one of the sessions on her fitness pass. I did one personal training session with Kathryn, and attended four classes in the “free week”, and was hooked. My fitness level is the best that it has ever been and I genuinely enjoy the workouts, whether they’re personal training or classes.
2. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CLASS AT BLUE SKY AND WHY?
It’s hard to choose. I love the variety of styles of class—Tabata, EMOM with Amber, 90-60-30, and SHRED are my “regulars”. My other favourite is my weekly personal training session with Kathryn. She pushes me just a bit past what I think I can do and I’m always pleasantly surprised. The gains in fitness then show up when I’m in the other classes during the week.
I wouldn’t be where I am fitness-wise without personal training. Thank you!
3. WHAT’S THE ONE THING/S YOU’VE NOTICED THAT HAS IMPROVED IN YOUR LIFE SINCE JOINING?
My functional fitness has improved dramatically. We did a lot of home improvement work this past summer, and I was able to keep up with my husband in lifting, digging and carrying. It means a lot to me that I can be an “equal partner” with him in carrying out projects for our family.
4. IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT SEPARATES US FROM OTHER FITNESS FACILITIES YOU’VE TRIED?
Blue Sky is a community. People connect with one another outside the gym, and encourage one another. Yet, even in my first weeks at the gym, I didn’t feel like an “outsider”. Instructors and other participants alike made me feel welcome every time and encouraged my efforts.
5. IF YOU COULD CHANGE OR ADD ONE THING AT BLUE SKY WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Be able to attend classes and personal training on site again! This pandemic needs to end!
